Kaye Smillie's Biography

I was raised on a farm outside of Calgary and attended the Alberta College of Art for two years before setting out in the mid-sixties to work my way around the world. I feel very fortunate that I ended up on Vancouver Island where I raised a family and continued my art studies.

Ten years ago I rediscovered the joys of clay sculpture and have had fun exploring several themes, my favourite being the food series.

At present I am devoting most of my time to clay sculpture, teaching protrait drawing (both animal and people) and expanding out into a further exploration of oils and acrylics.
